The Kid

I finally got round to watching this picture. It was released earlier this year but didn’t show up at a cinema near me. It’s a retelling of the Billy the Kid story and from what I can discover garnered only lukewarm reviews. I too was disappointed. Much of the picture appeared to be shot in semi darkness as if the director was obsessed with creating a certain atmosphere. The film also lacked pace although there was a half decent shootout at the end. Personally I’d go for the Sam Peckinpah version; ‘Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid’ which I’ve written about before, describing it as the most political of Westerns. It also comes with a Bob Dylan soundtrack.
